Day 1: Luanda — Get a Glimpse of Angola’s Capital
Luanda is your starting point. It’s a bustling city, but don’t let the traffic overwhelm you. First, head to the Fortaleza de São Miguel. This historic fort offers panoramic views of the city and the ocean. Plus, you’ll learn about the city’s colonial past.
For lunch, check out one of the local restauraunts in the Ilha de Luanda area. You’ll find good seafood and it’s a nice spot to relax by the water.
In the afternoon, walk along the Marginal, the city’s waterfront promenade. It’s a great place to people-watch and soak in the lively atmosphere. Wrap up your evening with dinner at a restaurant serving Angolan-style grilled chicken.
Day 2: Kissama National Park — Wildlife and Adventure
Get out of the city early and head to Kissama National Park. The drive takes around two hours from Luanda, so start your day with a hearty breakfast.
Kissama offers incredible safari experiences without the crowds. You can spot elephants, giraffes, and various antelopes on your game drive. The park’s wild, untouched feel makes it a unique experience. Join a guided tour, as they know the best spots for spotting the wildlife.
Stay overnight at one of the park’s lodges. It’s a peaceful way to end a day full of adventure in nature.
Day 3: Benguela — Culture and Coastal Vibes

Fly, or drive if you’re up for it, down to Benguela, a coastal city with charming Portuguese architecture. The relaxed vibe here is a complete contrast to Luanda’s bustling pace.
Visit Igreja de Nossa Senhora do Pópulo for a quick dip into colonial history. It’s one of the oldest churches in the country and provides great photo opportunities.
Take a stroll in the city center and then head down to Praia Morena. This beach is a local favorite where you can relax or swim. A seafood dinner by the ocean is a must here.
Day 4: Lobito — Enjoy a Laid-Back Day
Just a short drive from Benguela is Lobito, another coastal gem. It’s smaller and quieter than Benguela but offers a peaceful day by the water.
Start your morning with a walk around Lobito’s old port area. There isn’t much to see, but it gives you a sense of the town’s role in Angola’s history.
Then, spend some time at Restinga Beach. You’ll find clear waters, clean sands, and a few spots offering water sports if you’re feeling adventurous. Grab lunch at a beachside restaurant and enjoy the slow pace.
For your last evening in Lobito, take in the sunset over the bay. It’s quiet out here at night, which makes for a memorable, peaceful end to the day.

Day 5: Return to Luanda — Last-Minute Exploration
Head back to Luanda for your final day. If you haven’t already, visit the National Museum of Slavery. It’s a compelling but sobering place that tells the story of Angola’s role in the transatlantic slave trade.
Afterward, take the rest of the day to unwind. Spend time at the Mussulo Peninsula if you want one last beach visit. It’s a calm area, and you can reach it by boat from Luanda.
Finish your Angolan adventure with a nice dinner in Luanda’s city center. There are plenty of modern restaurants with international cuisine if you’re craving something different before heading home.
