Day 1: N’Djamena
Start your trip in N’Djamena, Chad’s capital. It’s a great place to ease into the local culture. Spend the morning at the central market. This is the heart of the city’s daily life. You’ll see stalls full of spices, textiles, and local food. Try some grilled meat—and don’t be afraid to bargain for small souvenirs.
In the afternoon, visit the National Museum. It’s small, but it holds some interesting artifacts highlighting the cultural history of Chad, especially from the prehistoric and Sao civilizations.

While Abeche is less touristy, you’ll appreciate the slower pace and the friendliness of the people. If you have time, take a short drive outside the city to see some of the wadi landscapes, marked by dry riverbeds.
Day 4: Ennedi Plateau
You’ve likely never seen a place like the Ennedi Plateau. This UNESCO-listed area is famous for its rock formations and petroglyphs. The landscape is surreal and almost otherworldly.
Arrange transport or a tour from Abeche, as getting to Ennedi can be difficult. Once there, spend the day exploring places like the Arch of Aloba and Guelta d’Archei, where you might even spot crocodiles that have adapted to life in the desert.
