Day 1: Arrive in Conakry
Welcome to Guinea! Start your trip in Conakry, the capital city. Take some time to settle in at your accommodation and recuperate from your flight. It’s going to be a lot of travel, so you’ll need a bit of energy. Spend the evening getting a feel for the city by strolling along Conakry’s busy streets.
Stop by the Sekoutoureya Presidential Palace for a quick look. Though you can’t enter, the building is impressive from the outside. For dinner, enjoy some local food at a small restaurant. Try dishes like rice with sauce (riz sauce) or fish curry.
Day 2: Explore Conakry
Start the day by visiting the National Museum of Guinea. It offers some insight into the country’s history and culture. Don’t miss the collection of traditional masks and musical instruments. These are incredible examples of Guinea’s artisanal heritage.
After that, head to the Madina Market—one of the largest in Guinea. It’s chaotic but a must-see. You’ll find everything from fresh produce to textiles. In the afternoon, visit the nearby Grand Mosque of Conakry, which is a key Islamic landmark.
Day 3: Kakoulima Mountain for Hiking
Take a break from the city with a trip to Kakoulima Mountain, located about an hour outside of Conakry. It’s a great spot for hiking and taking in some stunning scenery. The trek isn’t too difficult, so you don’t need to be an expert.
You’ll walk through small villages and lush vegetation. Make sure to bring water, as the day will involve a lot of walking. End the day back in Conakry and enjoy a relaxing Fulani meal—one of the ethnic dishes of several tribes in Guinea.
Day 4: Îles de Los

Board a boat for a trip to the beautiful Îles de Los, located a short ride from Conakry. The islands offer pristine beaches, ideal for a day of relaxation. Explore the small local villages or take a swim in the ocean. The vibe is laid-back, and it’s a perfect getaway from city life.
Spend the night on Île Kassa or head back to Conakry. There are small guesthouses on the islands if you want to extend your stay overnight.
Day 5: Fouta Djallon Region
Head out early for a journey to the Fouta Djallon region—a highland area known for its scenic beauty. This drive can take about 6 hours, so it’s a good idea to leave early. Pass through small towns and rural landscapes that give you an authentic feel of Guinea.
When you arrive in Labé (the region’s largest city), take it easy. Stroll around the small town, visit local shops or practice your French with locals.
Day 6: Hike to Chutes de Kambadaga
Today, explore the natural wonders of Fouta Djallon. Go on a guided hike to the Chutes de Kambadaga, one of the most beautiful waterfalls in Guinea. The trek takes a few hours and offers incredible views of the surrounding valleys.
Prepare to get wet while exploring this area, especially near the cascading falls. Spend the evening back in Labé relaxing.
Day 7: Continue Exploring Fouta Djallon
Spend another day in Fouta Djallon. This highland region is full of hiking opportunities and hidden waterfalls. Another incredible sight is the Chutes de Saala, which you can access with a short drive and hike. You’ll pass through small rural villages where you can interact with locals.

In the evening, enjoy the peaceful atmosphere of the region. If you haven’t yet, don’t miss the chance to try some local Fulani food like a smoked meat stew or dishes made from cassava.
Day 8: Travel to Dalaba
Dalaba is your next destination—an old colonial town located within the highlands. It’s a few hours’ drive from Labé, and the scenery on the way is beautiful. Once in Dalaba, visit the small market and check out the famous Villa Sylvia—a colonial-era house surrounded by flower gardens.
Spend the night in a local guesthouse. Dalaba isn’t touristy, so you’ll get to experience small-town Guinea life.
Day 9: Dalaba and Mount Loura
Today, hike up Mount Loura, which offers panoramic views of the region. It’s one of the prettiest peaks in Guinea. The path is fairly easy to follow, so it’s a good option for beginner hikers as well. Afterward, you can visit the Govi waterfalls nearby for a refreshing dip.

Return to Dalaba and spend the rest of the day at leisure. You’ll find quiet cafes and local eateries here, perfect for relaxing or journaling your experiences so far.
Day 10: Travel to Kindia
Head south toward Kindia, another region known for its towering mountains and greenery. The drive will take about 5-6 hours, but it’s easygoing and scenic. Once in Kindia, visit the local market and try fresh fruits or purchase handmade souvenirs. This town is famous for its woven fabric—great if you’re looking for gifts.
Stay overnight in Kindia. You can usually find budget hotels or guesthouses in the town center.

Day 11: Chutes de Voile de la Mariée
Start your day with a visit to the famous Chutes de Voile de la Mariée (Bride’s Veil Waterfall) just outside of Kindia. It’s one of the most popular natural attractions in Guinea and an easy half-day trip. The water cascades down like a veil, hence the name. Walk around the area and enjoy the cool mist from the waterfall.
In the afternoon, head back to Kindia or explore more of the surrounding countryside. You’ll find hiking trails and spots to take in majestic views.
Day 12: Trip to Boke
Drive west to Boke, a coastal town that used to be a key port for the French in the 19th century. You can visit the Museum of Boke to learn more about the region’s colonial history and its role in trade. It’s a quiet town with a chilled-out atmosphere, making it a great place to relax and take a breather.
Spend the evening in a small guesthouse or hotel.
Day 13: Visit Boffa and Cape Verga
Take a day trip to Boffa and Cape Verga—another coastal area known for its beautiful beaches. Cape Verga is more isolated, attracting those looking for a relaxed vibe. Dip your toes in the warm Atlantic waters before taking a long walk along the coastline.
Return to Boke for the evening. It’s your last set of adventures before leaving Guinea, so soak up every moment.
Day 14: Return to Conakry
Drive back to Conakry, where your adventure ends. Depending on your flight time, you can spend one last afternoon in Conakry, picking up any last-minute souvenirs or just soaking in the vibe one more time.
Say goodbye to Guinea, its amazing landscapes, rich culture, and friendly people. If you have time, grab a final meal of local street food before heading to the airport.
