Day 1: Arrive in Lilongwe
Your adventure begins in Lilongwe, Malawi’s capital. Spend your first day settling in and soaking up the city’s vibe. Stroll through the city to get a feel, maybe visit the Lilongwe Wildlife Centre for a relaxing introduction to Malawi’s conservation efforts. Day 3: Lilongwe to Cape Maclear
Time to hop on the road! Get ready for your first view of Lake Malawi at Cape Maclear, a laid-back lakeshore village, about four hours away. It’s the perfect spot for a chilled afternoon, hanging out by the water.
If you’re feeling adventurous, grab a kayak and explore some parts of the lake. Finish the day with some fresh fish caught straight from the lake.
Day 4: Relax at Cape Maclear

Get up early for a morning swim in the clear waters of Lake Malawi. The calm at Lake Malawi is unlike anywhere else. Spend the day snorkeling at nearby islands or just relax on the beach with a cold drink in hand. This area is all about relaxation.
You can also chat with the locals and maybe get to join a traditional fishing expedition. In the evening, sit back and enjoy the sunset over the horizon.
Day 5: Hiking at Cape Maclear

Day 6: Cape Maclear to Liwonde National Park
Today, you’re heading to Liwonde National Park, Malawi’s top wildlife destination. It’s about three hours from Cape Maclear. After arriving and settling into your lodge or camp, go for a sunset boat safari along the Shire River.
This trip will offer the chance to spot elephants, hippos, crocodiles, and countless birds. It’s a wildlife experience that shouldn’t be missed.
Day 7: Safari in Liwonde
Get up with the sun and head for a classic morning safari drive. You’ll be on the lookout for elephants, buffalo, antelope, and more. Your guide will explain everything about the park’s ecosystem and share stories about Malawi’s past.

Spend the afternoon relaxing at your camp and perhaps take another boat safari or self-led nature walk. The park’s peace makes it a perfect place to unwind.
Day 8: Liwonde to Zomba
It’s time to head south to Zomba, which takes another three-hour drive. Zomba Plateau is cooler with forest-covered hills and waterfall-filled hikes. It’s a refreshing stop after the heat of Cape Maclear and Liwonde.
In the afternoon, take a short hike to one of the incredible viewpoints, where you can see miles of the valley below. In the evening, relax at a cozy lodge like Sunbird Ku Chawe.
Day 9: Explore Zomba Plateau
Spend the day hiking on the Zomba Plateau. You’ll find trails that lead to beautiful spots like Williams Falls or Chingwe’s Hole. It’s no wonder Zomba Plateau was an important place during colonial times.

Day 10: Zomba to Mulanje

Day 11: Hiking Mount Mulanje

Day 12: Return to Lake Malawi (Chintheche)
You’ve explored the mountains, now it’s back to the lake, but this time up north to Chintheche. The nine-hour drive can be done in one go or broken up with a night in Lilongwe.
Chintheche is less crowded than Cape Maclear, so spend your evening enjoying lake views. Check-in at some relaxing lake lodges for a final beach retreat.
Day 13: Beach Day in Chintheche
Spend the whole day enjoying the peaceful beaches of Chintheche. You can swim, kayak, or just nap in a hammock. This is going to be a lazy day to recharge after your active trip.

Day 14: Return to Lilongwe
