Day 1: Arrive in Marrakech
Welcome to Morocco! Fly into Marrakech, the perfect starting point for your Moroccan adventure. Take time to settle into your hotel or riad (traditional Moroccan house). Don’t rush today—just walk around and get a feel for the city.
Head to Jemaa el-Fnaa in the evening. This vibrant square is packed with food stalls, musicians, snake charmers, and more. Grab dinner here, try some street food, and people-watch. It’s a chaotic but fun way to dive into the culture.
Day 2: Explore Marrakech
Today, dive deeper into Marrakech. Start by visiting the Bahia Palace with its beautifully detailed architecture. Then head to the Saadian Tombs, which date back to the 16th century.
In the afternoon, head over to Jardin Majorelle, an oasis in the city with beautiful plants and vibrant blue buildings designed by French painter Jacques Majorelle. Spend the rest of your day wandering the souks of the medina. Be ready to haggle for your souvenirs!
Day 3: Drive to the Atlas Mountains
Time to leave the city and head for the High Atlas Mountains. Rent a car or book a day tour for a scenic drive to Imlil, a small mountain village. Along the way, you’ll pass Berber villages and stunning landscapes.
When you reach Imlil, go for a short hike or relax at your guesthouse. Enjoy the fresh mountain air and the slower pace of life.
Day 4: Hiking in the Atlas Mountains

Spend today hiking around the Atlas Mountains. There are several trails in the area, ranging from easy two-hour walks to more challenging routes. Consider trekking to Aroumd, a nearby village offering fantastic views.
If hiking isn’t your thing, spend more time exploring local villages or relaxing in the serene surroundings.
Day 5: Aït Benhaddou & Ouarzazate
Drive to Aït Benhaddou, a striking UNESCO World Heritage site with a fortified village made of mudbrick. It’s a popular filming location, so you might recognize it from movies and TV shows.
After exploring Aït Benhaddou, continue to Ouarzazate. This city is known as the “Gateway to the Sahara” and has several film studios. End your day here by exploring the Taourirt Kasbah, a vast mudbrick fortress.
Day 6: Dades Gorge & Todra Gorge
Drive through the stunning Dades Valley to see the towering Dades Gorge. The winding road here offers some of the best views in the area. Stop along the way to take pictures or visit a local café.
Later, head to Todra Gorge, a canyon with walls that reach nearly 500 feet high. This is a great spot for a short walk or a longer hike for those seeking adventure.
Day 7: Merzouga & the Sahara Desert
Today, you’re heading to Merzouga, the gateway to the Sahara Desert. Once you arrive, take a camel trek into the dunes of Erg Chebbi. The journey out into the vast, orange desert is unforgettable.

You’ll spend the night at a desert camp. Enjoy a traditional Moroccan meal as you sit around the campfire, then gaze up at the unbelievable amount of stars in the night sky.
Day 8: Return to Marrakech via Ouarzazate
After breakfast in the desert, ride your camel back to Merzouga and begin your return journey to Marrakech. Along the way, you’ll pass by more stunning scenery, so don’t forget to stop for a few breaks.
It’s a long drive, but you can break it up by visiting the Kasbah of Ouarzazate again or stopping for lunch in one of the small towns on the way.
Day 9: Relaxation in Marrakech
Today, take it easy. Consider visiting a traditional hammam (Moroccan bathhouse) for a relaxing spa experience. Spend time wandering around the medina to revisit any souks you might have missed.

If you’re looking for something more laid-back, try a café with a rooftop terrace to enjoy some mint tea and take in the views of the city from above.
Day 10: Day Trip to Essaouira
For your last day, take a day trip to Essaouira, a charming coastal town just three hours from Marrakech. This is a great place to unwind, stroll along the beach, or visit the old fortress.
The medina here is much calmer than in Marrakech, so it’s a perfect spot to do some last-minute shopping without the crowds. After a relaxed day, return to Marrakech for your final night.
