Day 1: Arrival in Tunis
Welcome to Tunisia! Start your two-week adventure in Tunis, the capital city.
Upon arrival, check into your hotel and take it easy. For the first day, get a taste of Tunis’ charm by walking around the Medina, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Wander through its narrow alleys, explore the souks, and marvel at the beautiful mosques.
In the evening, head to Bab El Bhar, also known as Porte de France, for your first taste of authentic Tunisian cuisine. This spot has great street food options for a casual dinner on your first night.
Day 2: Tunis — Bardo Museum and Carthage
Today, start with a trip to the Bardo Museum, one of the most important museums in Africa. It’s home to an incredible collection of Roman mosaics and showcases Tunisia’s rich history.
In the afternoon, make your way to the ancient ruins of Carthage. Explore the Antonine Baths, Carthaginian ruins, and the Punic Ports. The area will give you a deep sense of Tunisia’s ancient past.
End the day with dinner at one of the many seaside restaurants in La Marsa, a relaxed beachfront suburb.
Day 3: Day Trip to Sidi Bou Said

On your third day, visit Sidi Bou Said, a picturesque coastal village. Known for its white-washed houses with blue shutters, this town is an Instagram dream.
Spend a leisurely morning walking along the cliffside streets. Stop by Café des Délices for a traditional mint tea and take in the view of the Mediterranean Sea.
In the afternoon, explore the Ennejma Ezzahra palace. The beautifully restored palace is an architectural gem filled with art collections and offers a glimpse into the lavish life of its former owner.
Day 4: Dougga
Travel to Dougga for a day trip filled with ancient history. This UNESCO World Heritage site is a well-preserved Roman city, and it’s less crowded compared to other sites in Tunisia.
Roam around the impressive Roman theater, temples, and homes. It’s easy to imagine how life would have been here 2,000 years ago. Pack a picnic and enjoy lunch with a view of the ruins.
Come back to Tunis in the evening and unwind after an interesting day of exploring history.
Day 5: Hammamet — Beach Day
Today, head south to Hammamet and check into a hotel right by the beach. Hammamet boasts golden sand beaches and clear waters — perfect for a relaxing beach getaway after days of exploring.

Spend the day sunbathing, swimming, or doing absolutely nothing. Walking down the coast during sunset is a must. Catch dinner at a seafood restaurant by the shore.
Day 6: Day Trip to Kairouan
Kairouan is a sacred Islamic city and your next stop. It’s a two-hour drive from Hammamet, but well worth the trip to see one of the country’s most important religious centers.
The Great Mosque of Kairouan is the main highlight. Take your time walking its massive courtyard and admiring the architectural details. The city is also famous for its carpets, so take the chance to visit a local shop and see the weaving process.
Return to Hammamet in the evening for a quiet, relaxing dinner.

Day 7: El Djem
Head out early to visit El Djem, Tunisia’s most famous Roman amphitheater. This ancient structure is massive and rivals even the Roman Colosseum in size. You can explore the underground tunnels and walk up to the top for a panoramic view of the surrounding area.
After you’ve had your fill of Roman history, grab a lunch in town and make your way back to Hammamet to enjoy the beach during the late afternoon.
Day 8: Monastir & Sousse
On day eight, start by visiting Monastir, a beautiful seaside town where you can explore the Ribat of Monastir, an imposing fortress. It’s one of Tunisia’s oldest ribats, and the views from the tower are amazing.

From Monastir, drive to nearby Sousse and wander the medina, another UNESCO World Heritage site. If time permits, check out the Sousse Archaeological Museum, known for its beautiful collection of mosaics.
Stay overnight in Sousse and enjoy the nightlife along the waterfront.
Day 9: Mahdia
Mahdia is a quieter coastal town compared to Hammamet and Sousse, but it’s worth spending a day exploring its old town. The gorgeous coastline, combined with the town’s rich pirate history, makes for an entertaining stop.
Walk through the Skifa El Kahla gate to access the medina. Visit the Bordj el Kebir fortress before heading to the beach in the afternoon.
Grab dinner by the water, admiring the sun as it sets over the sea.
Day 10: Tozeur — Gateway to the Desert
Today, make your way to Tozeur, an oasis town located in south Tunisia. This is the gateway to the Sahara Desert.
Before diving into desert adventures, spend the day walking in the old town, exploring the palm groves, and learning more about desert life at the city’s museums.
In the evening, enjoy a traditional Berber dinner under the stars. This quiet, slower pace will let you immerse yourself into local life.
Day 11: Sahara Desert Experience
This is your big desert experience day! Book a trip to explore the Sahara, either by 4×4 vehicle or by camel. You’ll see sand dunes stretching for miles, salt lakes, and can even visit some Star Wars filming locations.
It’s a long day of adventure, so make sure to pack lots of water and sunscreen. Spend the night either back in Tozeur or opt for an unforgettable night in a desert camp.
Day 12: Chebika and Tamerza
Leave early for the nearby mountain oases of Chebika and Tamerza. These two villages are surrounded by breathtaking cliffs and waterfalls.
Spend your time exploring Chebika’s palm-tree filled ravines and Tamerza’s hidden waterfalls. The hike isn’t too strenuous, and the reward is definitely worth the effort.
Head back to Tozeur in the evening for some well-deserved downtime.
Day 13: Matmata
Drive towards Matmata, a picturesque village famous for its unique underground houses. It’s also one of the filming locations for Luke Skywalker’s home in Star Wars.
Walk around these “troglodyte” homes, many of which are still inhabited today. If you’re feeling brave, stay in one of these cave hotels for a night and get a feel of what it’s like to live underground.
Day 14: Return to Tunis
Return to Tunis for your last day in Tunisia. Take the opportunity to visit any spots you might have missed. Buy some last-minute souvenirs or find a cozy café where you can relax and reflect on your two-week adventure.
In the evening, enjoy your final Tunisian dinner in the heart of the city. Celebrate your journey through this diverse and fascinating country.
