Day 1: Arrive in Lusaka
Land in Zambia’s capital, Lusaka. Start with a relaxed day to shake off the jet lag. Wander around the bustling city center and grab a meal at a local café. If you’re feeling up to it, explore Lusaka’s buzzing Soweto Market, where you’ll find everything from local produce to clothes. It’s a great introduction to Zambia’s culture.
Day 2: Lusaka to South Luangwa National Park
Catch a domestic flight to Mfuwe, the gateway to South Luangwa National Park. This park isn’t just a famous safari destination—it’s known for some of the best wildlife sightings in Africa! Keep your camera ready for elephants, lions, and leopards. Spend the afternoon on a relaxed game drive to get a feel for the park’s beauty.
Day 3: Full Day Safari in South Luangwa
Wake up early and head out on a full-day safari. This is prime time to spot wildlife, including hippos lounging by the river. Consider booking a walking safari—South Luangwa is known as the birthplace of the walking safari. You’ll get up close to nature in a way you won’t forget.
Day 4: Village Visit and Overnight in the Park
Visit a nearby local village for a deeper dive into Zambia’s rural culture. Chat with locals, witness traditional crafts, and maybe try some nshima (a Zambian staple food). Afterward, enjoy an evening drive in the park followed by a dinner under the stars at your lodge or campsite.
Day 5: Fly to Livingstone
Fly to Livingstone, the adventure capital of Zambia. Get settled in and take it easy. Consider visiting the Livingstone Museum to learn a bit about Zambia’s history. Another cool option is exploring local markets to get a feel for how people live here every day.
Day 6: Victoria Falls – “The Smoke that Thunders”
Spend the day at one of Zambia’s most famous landmarks: Victoria Falls. Known locally as “Mosi-oa-Tunya,” the falls are breathtaking from both the Zambian and Zimbabwean sides, so bring your passport if you want dual views. Explore the walking trails and get soaked by the mist (it’s worth it!). You can also try a helicopter ride for that bucket-list aerial view.
Day 7: Zambezi River Activities

It’s time for some action! Whitewater rafting on the Zambezi River is a must if you’re up for adventure. If you prefer something more relaxed, opt for a sunset cruise where you can spot crocodiles and hippos along the shores. After your adventure, take the evening to relax by the riverside with a local beer.
Day 8: Chobe National Park (Botswana Day Trip)
Chobe National Park in neighboring Botswana is easily accessible from Livingstone, and it’s known for massive herds of elephants. Book a one-day tour that includes a river cruise and a game drive. If you’re lucky, you’ll witness a predator hunt or spot big game like buffalo or giraffes.
Day 9: Free Day in Livingstone
Take it slow today. Use the day to recharge. You can either hang out by your lodge’s pool or go for some light sightseeing. If you’re up for it, consider visiting a nearby community project or school to get some deeper cultural connections. Wrap up the day with a relaxed dinner in town.
Day 10: Departure from Lusaka
Time to head back to Lusaka. You can either fly or take a scenic bus ride back to the capital. Pick up some last-minute souvenirs, maybe some Zambian handicrafts, before you catch your flight home. Reflect on all the incredible wildlife, culture, and adventures you’ve enjoyed over the last 10 days. Zambia will have left you with memories to last a lifetime.
