Day 1: Arrival in Delhi
You’ll land in India’s capital, Delhi, likely in the late afternoon or evening. Check into your hotel and rest up after your flight. If you’re feeling energetic, head out to grab some dinner. Khan Market and Connaught Place have plenty of restaurants offering both international and Indian cuisine. Take it easy tonight; the real adventure begins tomorrow.
Day 2: Explore Delhi
Start your first full day with a visit to the Red Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the most iconic landmarks in Delhi. Afterward, head to Jama Masjid, one of the largest mosques in India. They are located close to each other so you can easily visit them in one go.
From there, take a cycle rickshaw to Chandni Chowk, one of the oldest and busiest markets in Old Delhi. Grab some street food like samosas or parathas here — they’re some of the best in the city. In the afternoon, head to Raj Ghat, a peaceful memorial dedicated to Mahatma Gandhi.
End the day with a visit to Humayun’s Tomb, another UNESCO site, known for its stunning Mughal architecture.
Day 3: Day Trip to Agra
Wake up early and catch a train to Agra (about two hours from Delhi). First stop has to be the Taj Mahal, India’s most famous landmark. Spend a couple of hours exploring the grounds and taking photos.
After the Taj, visit Agra Fort, a massive red sandstone fort that offers great views and a deep dive into Mughal history. If you’re not too tired, you can also check out the Tomb of Itimad-ud-Daulah, sometimes called the “Baby Taj.”
Return to Delhi in the evening.
Day 4: Travel to Jaipur
Catch a train or bus to Jaipur, the capital of Rajasthan, known as the “Pink City” due to its distinct-colored buildings. It’s about a five-hour journey from Delhi. Once in Jaipur, check into your hotel and spend the evening at leisure, maybe strolling through the local markets or grabbing some Rajasthani food at a local restaurant.
Day 5: Explore Jaipur
Start your day by visiting the Amber Fort. This beautiful structure sits on top of a hill and is best seen early in the day before the crowds arrive. You can either hike up or take a jeep ride to the top.
Later in the day, visit the Hawa Mahal (Palace of the Winds) with its unique many-windowed façade, and don’t miss the famous Jantar Mantar, an astronomical observatory.
In the evening, wander around the City Palace, which showcases a mix of Rajasthani and Mughal architecture.
Day 6: Jaipur Off-the-Beaten-Path
Today, get off the main tourist track a bit. Head to the Jaigarh Fort, which offers stunning views over the city and houses the world’s largest cannon. Then visit the peaceful Galta Ji Temple (Monkey Temple) set in the hills just outside town, where monkeys roam freely.
End your day with a quiet evening. Stroll through the bazaars in Jaipur and try some local snacks like kachoris or lassis.
Day 7: Travel to Jodhpur
Catch an early morning train or bus to Jodhpur, the “Blue City” of Rajasthan. It’s about a six-hour trip, so take it easy today once you arrive. Check into your accommodation and spend the afternoon exploring the old town on foot. Walk through the blue-painted alleys and don’t miss the local clock tower market.
Day 8: Explore Jodhpur
Start your day at Mehrangarh Fort, perched on top of a hill. It’s one of the largest fortresses in India and a fantastic place to learn more about the history of the region. The views of Jodhpur from here are unbeatable.
Afterward, stroll through Jaswant Thada, a peaceful marble memorial for the royal family that’s nearby. If you’re still feeling adventurous, head to the Mandore Gardens in the late afternoon for a quieter, local experience.
Day 9: Travel to Udaipur
Today, take a bus or train to Udaipur, the “City of Lakes.” It’s a bit of a long journey (7-8 hours) so this day is mostly for travel. When you arrive in Udaipur, check into your hotel by Lake Pichola and relax. If you have time, take a short boat ride on the lake and watch the sunset over the city’s whitewashed buildings.
Day 10: Discover Udaipur
Start your day at the City Palace, the largest palace complex in Rajasthan. Spend a few hours exploring the rooms and courtyards here before wandering down to Jagdish Temple, a few minutes away.
In the afternoon, relax with a boat ride on Lake Pichola. Stop by the Lake Palace (you can’t go inside unless you’re staying there, but it’s still worth seeing), and visit Jag Mandir, another small island on the lake.
Day 11: Udaipur Exploration
Spend today at a more relaxed pace by walking around the quieter areas of Udaipur. Visit the Monsoon Palace for stunning views over the nearby Aravalli Hills or take a trip out to Saheliyon Ki Bari, a peaceful garden built for a queen and her friends.
In the late afternoon, visit Bagore Ki Haveli, a museum known for its traditional Rajasthani dance performance held every evening. Grab a seat early as it can get crowded!
Day 12: Travel to Jaisalmer
Today, hop on the train or bus to Jaisalmer, the “Golden City.” It’s a long journey (around 8 hours), so rest once you arrive. After checking into your hotel, take a walk through the narrow streets of the old city. Spend your evening relaxing, with maybe a chai or local snack in a rooftop café that overlooks the city and fort.
Day 13: Explore Jaisalmer
Head straight to the Jaisalmer Fort, which is unique because people still live and work within its walls. Walk through the winding streets, explore the local shops, and visit the Jain Temples inside the fort.
In the afternoon, take a day trip to Sam Sand Dunes or Khuri for a camel ride through the Thar Desert. Watch the sunset here — it’s spectacular — and then return to Jaisalmer to spend your final evening wandering through this beautiful, ancient city.
Day 14: Return to Delhi
On your last day, fly back to Delhi, which will take about 1-2 hours. If you have some time left before your flight home, do some last-minute shopping in Delhi’s markets like Sarojini Nagar or Dilli Haat. Alternatively, you can relax in one of the city’s many parks or cafes.
End your two-week adventure with a final Indian meal, savoring the flavors of this incredible trip before heading to the airport for your departure.
