10-Day Itinerary for Philippines: A Complete Guide

Day 1: Arrival in Manila

Your journey starts in Manila, the bustling capital of the Philippines. As soon as you land, take it easy. Check into your hotel and rest up for the adventure ahead. If you have some energy left, head to Intramuros, the historic heart of the city. Explore the old Spanish fortifications, walk along cobblestoned streets, and visit Fort Santiago and San Agustin Church.

For dinner, I recommend trying out some local Filipino food at one of the city’s many street food stalls or go to a more laid-back spot like “Bistro Remedios.” Don’t miss out on trying “adobo” and “sinigang.”

Day 2: Explore Manila

Kick off the day at the National Museum of the Philippines, where you can learn more about the country’s history and culture. You will get a deeper understanding of the Philippines before really diving into your trip. It’s a good starting point!

Afterward, visit Rizal Park and spend an hour or so people-watching. You might want to check out nearby Binondo, the oldest Chinatown in the world. The mix of Filipino and Chinese culture is fascinating, and the food here is fantastic, especially the “lumpia” and “pancit.”

Head back early, as tomorrow you will be getting out of the city.

Day 3: Travel to Coron

Catch a flight to Coron, Palawan. Coron is all about crystal-clear waters, lush landscapes, and tons of outdoor activities.

Once you arrive, settle into your accommodation and go for a relaxing walk along the town’s quiet streets. Grab a local meal and prepare for an exciting few days ahead. Make sure you try “kinilaw,” a Filipino-style ceviche, for dinner.

Day 4: Island Hopping in Coron

Coron is famous for its island-hopping tours. Today, you’ll swim in beautiful lakes, snorkel in vibrant coral reefs, and visit small secluded beaches.

The typical stops include Kayangan Lake, Barracuda Lake, and Twin Lagoon. Don’t forget your camera for Kayangan’s iconic crystal-clear waters. Spend the day diving into nature and meeting locals who work as guides or boatmen.

After a long day of sea and sun, unwind at Coron’s natural hot springs in Maquinit Hot Springs—an awesome way to ease any muscle pain and prepare for another exciting day.

Day 5: Wreck Diving or Snorkeling in Coron

If you’re into diving or snorkeling, Coron is top-rated for its shipwreck sites. You can explore several wrecks from World War II. Even if diving isn’t your thing, snorkeling around these wrecks is a great experience.

Not into shipwrecks? No worries. You can trek up Mt. Tapyas, a steep but worth-it climb for panoramic views of the island. In contrast to the bustling tourist spots, this offers some downtime and a chance to enjoy peaceful nature.

Day 6: Travel to El Nido

Today, you’ll take a ferry or a short flight to El Nido, the next island paradise on your itinerary. Known for its limestone cliffs and beautiful bay, you will immediately see why this place is on every traveler’s list.

Once you check in, I suggest renting a bike or tricycle to explore the town and nearby beaches. If you have time before the sun sets, head to Nacpan Beach for golden sands and a laid-back vibe. Grab a beachfront dinner and watch the sunset—it’s magical here.

Day 7: Island Hopping in El Nido

Just like Coron, El Nido is all about island hopping. Join a tour of Bacuit Bay and visit some of the most breathtaking places you’ll ever see. Stops typically include the Small Lagoon, Big Lagoon, and Secret Lagoon.

If you’re a fan of kayaking or paddleboarding, you can rent gear and explore the lagoons at your own pace. Get lunch on a quiet beach, mingle with other travelers, and snap tons of pictures.

Wrap up your day by checking out El Nido’s chilled nightlife. Visit a beachfront bar and grab a cocktail while listening to live bands or acoustic music.

Day 8: Helicopter Island & More Relaxing

After days filled with tours and activities, today can be a bit more relaxed. Head to Helicopter Island for a lazy day; it’s not far from the mainland and has some of the clearest waters for swimming and snorkeling.

If you’re eager for more adventure, you can rent a motorbike and explore the less crowded beaches nearby like Las Cabanas Beach or Duli Beach. Both are great spots if you want some quiet time and fewer people.

Day 9: Travel to Cebu

Today, you head back to the airport to catch a flight to Cebu. Cebu offers a mix of history, beaches, and great food.

Once you arrive, spend the rest of the day visiting the Magellan’s Cross and Basilica del Santo Niño. These are significant historical landmarks that shine a light on the early arrival of the Spanish here. If you’re into museums, Casa Gorordo Museum is also worth a quick stop.

Have a relaxing night. Cebu’s food scene is vibrant, so try “lechon” (roast pig) for dinner at Rico’s or Zubuchon.

Day 10: Kawasan Falls and Departure

Your last adventure is a trip to Kawasan Falls, about a two-hour drive from Cebu City. It’s famous for canyoneering, where you jump, slide, and swim through waterfalls and natural pools.

If extreme sports aren’t your style, you can simply take a swim in the bright blue waters at the base of the falls and relax.

Afterward, make your way back to Cebu City to catch your flight, or stay a bit longer if you have more time.

Final Thoughts

This 10-day itinerary balances must-see tourist spots with some downtime and unique, authentic experiences. The Philippines is a country full of natural beauty and friendly locals, and it’s hard to fit it all into just 10 days, but this plan will help you see the best while still taking everything at your own pace. Have fun!
