10-Day Itinerary for Fiji: A Complete Guide

Day 1: Arrival in Nadi

Your adventure in Fiji starts in Nadi, the main international gateway. Once you land, you’ll feel the warmth of Fijian hospitality. Take it easy today, considering the long flight. Head to your accommodation and unwind. To kick things off, head to the Sri Siva Subramaniya Swami Temple, where you’ll find intricate Hindu architecture.

In the evening, enjoy dinner at a local restaurant. Try some traditional Fijian dishes like kokoda (a marinated fish in coconut cream) or lovo (meat and veggies cooked in an underground oven). The goal today is to relax and get your bearings.

Day 2: Nadi and Garden of the Sleeping Giant

Start your morning with a visit to the Garden of the Sleeping Giant, just a short drive from Nadi. This lush garden has over 2,000 varieties of orchids, making it a peaceful spot for a nice walk. It’s a good way to ease into the beauty Fiji has to offer.

In the afternoon, take a stroll through the town markets. You can pick up some local fruits and immerse yourself in the pace of everyday life in Nadi. Have a casual dinner and relax – tomorrow, you’ll hit the islands.

Day 3: Boat to the Yasawa Islands

Today, you’ll take a boat from Port Denarau to the Yasawa Islands, known for their pristine beaches and vibrant local culture. Your destination could be anywhere in this spectacular chain, but consider starting on Nacula Island.

Settle into your beachfront accommodation and spend your afternoon soaking in the gorgeous Pacific Ocean. For dinner, many of the resorts offer seafood barbecues on the beach; definitely go for that!

Day 4: Nacula Island – Blue Lagoon

Get ready for adventure! Today, you’ll explore the Blue Lagoon. The calm, crystal-clear waters are perfect for swimming and snorkeling. It’s like stepping into a postcard.

In the afternoon, visit some local villages. Fijian hospitality will make you feel like you’re part of the community. Learn about the traditional kava ceremony and connect with the island life. Wrapping up the day, relax beachfront, and catch your first island sunset.

Day 5: Off the Beaten Path – Sawa-i-Lau Caves

Wake up early and head to the Sawa-i-Lau Caves. These mystical limestone caves are one of Fiji’s most unique attractions. You’ll swim through an underwater tunnel to reach the inner caves, which have been part of local legend for centuries.

Afterward, spend some time enjoying the quieter parts of Nacula Island. You may want to relax on the beach or take a hike into the hills for panoramic views. End the day with a relaxed dinner at your resort, followed by another kava ceremony.

Day 6: Boat to Naviti Island

Today, transfer to Naviti Island, another gem in the Yasawa chain. You can spend the day lounging on the beautiful white sandy beaches or head out on another snorkeling adventure. This island is known for its coral reefs teeming with marine life, so don’t pass up the chance.

In the evening, enjoy some fireside entertainment. Some resorts host traditional meke performances, where you’ll experience storytelling through song and dance.

Day 7: Fiji’s Coral Gardens and Beach Time

It’s all about beach bliss today. Head to the Coral Gardens, which are famous for their soft coral and impressive array of tropical fish. If you’re up for more, you can also go scuba diving and explore the ocean around Naviti Island.

After a morning filled with ocean activities, take the afternoon to unwind. Grab a hammock, crack open a book, or just nap in the shade of a coconut tree. You deserve some downtime at this point in the trip!

Day 8: Island Hopping in Mamanuca Islands

Catch a boat down to the Mamanuca Islands. These islands offer some of the best spots for water-based activities like snorkeling, diving, and surfing. Depending on your vibe, you can either hit a more developed island like Malolo or go to a smaller, quieter retreat.

If you’re a movie buff, make a stop by Monuriki Island, where “Castaway” was filmed. End your evening watching the sunset at Cloud 9, a floating bar that’s perfect for a final drink on the water.

Day 9: Back to the Mainland and Pacific Harbour

Take the boat back to the mainland and head to Pacific Harbour, known as Fiji’s adventure capital. Here, you can do everything from shark diving to zip-lining. If you’re feeling brave, queue up for a shark dive with no cages at Beqa Lagoon. It’s perfect for experiencing Fiji’s wild side.

If adrenaline isn’t your thing, go for a scenic hike or whitewater rafting. Afterward, head to local markets in the evening for some shopping, or enjoy a relaxed dinner at one of the great harborside restaurants.

Day 10: Suva and Departure

Your last day gives you a chance to explore Fiji’s capital, Suva. Visit the Fiji Museum, which is the best place to learn about Fijian history, culture, and seafaring past. If time allows, take a walk around Thurston Gardens.

By midday, squeeze in some last-minute shopping at Suva’s handicraft markets. Some of the best souvenirs are handwoven baskets, tapa cloth, and Fijian wooden carvings. Then, head back to Nadi in preparation for your flight home.

Your 10-day adventure in Fiji is complete! You’ve explored islands, met locals, learned about Fijian traditions, and even found plenty of time to relax. Safe travels!
