Ultimate 7-Day Itinerary for Discovering Fiji

Day 1: Arrive in Nadi

Once you land in Nadi, you’ll still feel the tropical warmth from the plane. Make your way to your accommodation in town. Nadi isn’t the most beautiful city in Fiji, but it’s a good starting point.

On your first day, explore the Sri Siva Subramaniya temple. This colorful Hindu temple is one of the largest in the Southern Hemisphere. It’s a peaceful spot to ease into your trip.

Afterward, stroll through the Nadi Market. It’s a great place to try local fruits like mangoes and papayas. Plus, you can stock up on snacks for the journey ahead.

For dinner, check out Tu’s Place. You’ll find local favorites like kokoda (a Fijian ceviche) and pumpkin curry.

Get some rest tonight; tomorrow, the real adventure begins.

Day 2: Nadi to the Mamanuca Islands

Catch a ferry to the Mamanuca Islands in the morning. These tiny islands are close to Nadi and offer stunning beaches, clear water, and coral reefs.

Pick an island that matches your budget. Whether you stay at a resort on Malolo or something more laid-back like Beachcomber Island, you’ll find incredible views everywhere.

Spend your day snorkeling, swimming, or simply relaxing on the beach. You might even want to join a boat tour to explore more of the small islands around. Sunset over the islands is magical.

Day 3: Watersports in the Mamanucas

Today is a good day for watersports. Many resorts offer activities like paddleboarding, jet skiing, and parasailing. If you’re into surfing, head to Cloudbreak, one of the best surf spots in the world.

If you’d rather stay under water, book a scuba diving trip. Snorkeling is an option too, especially around Tivua Island. The reefs here are colorful and full of life, and you might even spot a turtle or two.

End your day with a beachside barbecue or a local lovo (Fijian feast cooked underground). Most accommodations offer these special dinners.

Day 4: Travel to Taveuni

Catch a flight to Taveuni, the “Garden Island” of Fiji. The flight is short, and once you arrive, you’ll immediately notice the difference. Taveuni is lush and green, with far fewer tourists than the Mamanucas.

After checking into your accommodation, start exploring Bouma National Heritage Park. The Lavena Coastal Walk is a good way to stretch your legs while seeing jungle forests, waterfalls, and coastline.

The highlight of the walk is Wainibau Falls, where you can swim in a natural freshwater pool.

For dinner, try some local seafood at one of the island’s small restaurants.

Day 5: Hiking and Waterfalls in Taveuni

Wake up early and head towards Tavoro Waterfalls. This trio of waterfalls is also part of Bouma Park. The first waterfall is near the entrance, and you don’t have to hike far to reach it.

If you have the energy, hike further to visit the second and third waterfalls. They’re less crowded, and the scenery is even more dramatic. Swimming in the clear pools beneath the waterfalls is refreshing after the hike.

In the afternoon, visit the International Date Line marker. It’s fun to stand with one foot in “yesterday” and the other in “today”.

Wrap up your day with a quiet sunset view from your accommodation.

Day 6: Taveuni to Suva

Take a flight back to the main island of Viti Levu, and head to Suva, Fiji’s capital. Suva has a different vibe with its colonial architecture and busy market.

Start at the Fiji Museum in Thurston Gardens. The museum showcases the history and culture of Fiji, from its indigenous roots to its British colonial past.

Next, walk through Suva Municipal Market. You’ll find loads of fresh produce, spices, and handicrafts here. If you feel hungry, grab a roti from one of the food stalls.

Spend the rest of the day strolling along the Suva waterfront or visiting Albert Park.

Day 7: Explore Suva and Head Back to Nadi

Before heading back to Nadi to catch your flight, visit Colo-i-Suva Forest Park. It’s just a short ride from the city, and you’ll end your trip surrounded by greenery. There are easy trails here that lead to crystal-clear pools. You can swim, hike, or just listen to the sounds of nature.

Grab lunch in Suva before heading to Nadi. If you have an evening flight, stop by the Garden of the Sleeping Giant. Located just outside Nadi, this garden is home to over 2,000 kinds of orchids. It’s a quiet spot to relax before heading to the airport.

And that’s it! A week in Fiji is full of relaxation, adventure, and beautiful views. Just remember to take it slow, chat with the locals, and enjoy the island pace of life.
