Overview
A first visit can pair Buenos Aires with one region rather than trying to cross the whole country. Our seven-day route gives the capital three full days, protects the flights to and from El Calafate, and spends a day at Perito Moreno Glacier, about 80 km from town.
November to March suits this Buenos Aires and southern Patagonia combination, with longer daylight in the south and warmer city days. Buenos Aires alone is also attractive in spring and fall. Winter changes the pace in El Calafate and shortens the national park access hours.
When to go
Buenos Aires rose gardens flower in spring, with the Rosedal flowering season running from September to November. Month ratings here reflect the Buenos Aires and El Calafate route, not every Argentine region.

Getting around
- Domestic flights: Check whether each Buenos Aires flight uses Aeroparque (AEP) or Ezeiza (EZE), and protect the travel day instead of planning a tight airport connection.
- In Buenos Aires: Combine neighborhood walks with arranged taxis or ride-hailing for the longer gaps, especially between La Boca and the other visitor areas.
- To Perito Moreno: Arrange a return car, bus or excursion from El Calafate to the glacier, allowing about 90 minutes each way as a planning estimate.
- In El Calafate: Stay near Avenida del Libertador for meals on foot and arrange transport to attractions outside town.
