Overview
Most first trips pair Sarajevo with Mostar. Three days in Sarajevo cover the Baščaršija bazaar, the rebuilt City Hall, the siege museums and a day up Trebević and out to the Tunnel of Hope. The road south to Mostar is about 125 km and takes about 2 hours by car. Allow two days in Mostar for the Old Bridge and for Kravice, Počitelj and Blagaj, which lie 20 to 60 min by road from the old town.
Late spring and early autumn are the easiest months for walking and day trips. Summer is the season for swimming at Kravice, and July brings traditional jumps from the Old Bridge. Winters are cold: Kravice closes earlier, and the Sarajevo cable car and museums keep shorter hours. Several museums close on Mondays.
When to go
Traditional jumps from the Old Bridge in Mostar take place in July, and Kravice stays open until 10 PM from June to September.

Getting around
- Between cities: Sarajevo to Mostar is about 125 km and takes about 2 hours by car; coaches take longer, so check a timetable.
- In Sarajevo: Trams, trolleybuses and buses cover the city; tram line 3 runs from Baščaršija to Ilidža, and taxis run on a meter.
- Sarajevo Airport: The airport is 12 km from the center, linked by the Airport Bus and by taxis; fog can delay early flights in cold months.
- Day trips from Mostar: Blagaj is about 20 min by road, Počitelj about 30 min and Kravice about 1 hour, so a car or a tour makes them easier.
