Overview
Most first trips run down the Dalmatian coast from Split to Dubrovnik. Catamarans reach Hvar town from Split in about an hour, and the coach from Split to Dubrovnik takes about 4 to 4.5 hours, with a Krilo catamaran as another option on days it runs.
The coast has a Mediterranean climate: mostly sunny days, dry and hot summers, and mild, damp winters. Some services change with the season: the Dubrovnik cable car closes from December to March, and catamaran timetables vary through the year.
When to go
Split celebrates its patron saint on 7 May with the Feast of St. Domnius (Sudamja), the peak of a festival and fair that ran from 30 Apr to 10 May in 2026.
