Entry rule for your passport
Visa required for mainland trips. Indian passports have conditional arrival routes based on qualifying visas, residence or an approved tour; otherwise arrange a visa before travel. Confirm the exact route with Egypt’s consulate.

Who this covers: Ordinary Indian passports for tourism. Eligibility depends on the exact supporting documents, arrival route and any approved tour arrangements; individual consular confirmation remains important where official pages differ.
Check your circumstances
Read these conditions alongside the entry rule. Where official guidance does not state a condition, that is not confirmation that no condition applies.
- Passport type Conditions to check
- This article is for ordinary Indian passports. Egypt’s immigration table lists India separately; diplomatic, official and other travel documents need individual checks.

- Trip purpose Conditions to check
- The routes covered are tourist visits. The group exception requires an approved Egyptian tourism-company guarantee, not merely a hotel booking.

- Age Not stated in the cited guidance
- The India row does not state an age cutoff. Age exceptions shown for other nationalities must not be applied to Indian passports.

- Other visas or residence permits Conditions to check
- The general exception requires a valid, previously used, multiple-entry visa in your passport from a listed country. An unused, expired or single-entry visa does not meet that wording.

- Carrier and arrival route Conditions to check
- South Sinai permission has specific arrival-port and document conditions. No named airline restriction appears in the India table; check your exact route.

- Stay and visa validity Conditions to check
- The restricted South Sinai stamp permits 15 days in its defined area. For a full-country visa, follow the stay granted rather than assuming a duration from the portal listing.

Which supporting documents change the route
Egypt’s immigration guidance lists arrival exceptions for valid, previously used, multiple-entry visas in the passport from Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Japan, the UK, the US or the Schengen Area. It also lists residence permits from those places or GCC countries, subject to its six-month validity and return condition. India is not among the nationalities excluded in that section.
Separately, the India table lists an arrival exception with an approved Egyptian tourism-company guarantee for a group of at least two. Ask the consulate to confirm how your documents and itinerary meet the specific route before relying on either exception.

Why an eVisa country list is not the whole answer
India appears on the eVisa portal’s nationality list. Sydney’s Egyptian consulate separately places Indian applicants in its preapproval category. These pages describe different processes and do not settle every individual case. Ask the consulate responsible for where you live to confirm the correct application route, any guarantee and whether advance approval is needed.
For applications through Sydney, Category C requests Australian visa details, financial evidence and other documents, then waits for approval before requesting the original passport. Do not copy that Australia-specific document list as a universal requirement for Indians living elsewhere.
For the eVisa route, the portal requires a passport valid for six months from arrival, printed approval, an itinerary and hotel details. These documents do not replace any additional guarantee or approval required for your case.

A Sinai-only trip needs a separate check
The immigration site describes a restricted South Sinai stamp for Indian travelers arriving through South Sinai airports or seaports, with a return flight, confirmed hotel and sufficient funds: at least USD 2,000 in cash or a credit card. Its stated area includes Sharm El Sheikh, Dahab, Nuweiba, Saint Catherine and Taba.
That permission does not cover Cairo, Luxor, Aswan or Hurghada. Confirm your exact arrival point and permitted itinerary with the consulate; do not use a resort-only exception for a trip around Egypt.
