Entry rule for your passport
Visa required: apply for an eVisa or get a 30-day tourist visa on airport arrival. Your passport needs at least 6 months of validity and 1 blank page.

Who this covers: Ordinary US passports for a short tourist visit, mainly arriving by air. Official travel, work, study and Egyptian dual nationality require separate checks.
Check your circumstances
Read these conditions alongside the entry rule. Where official guidance does not state a condition, that is not confirmation that no condition applies.

Apply through the official portal
Register on Egypt’s eVisa portal, complete the application and await approval. Download and print the approved visa for arrival. Payment or an application reference is not the approval itself.

Keep your arrival documents together
Carry your passport, printed eVisa, itinerary and hotel details. Check the dates and passport number on your approval before departure. Keep a paper copy with your travel documents so you can reach it without mobile data.

Arrival payment and the Sinai limit
State Department guidance distinguishes card-paid digital arrival visas at Cairo from cash-paid physical visas elsewhere. Check the current instructions for your airport before flying.
At Taba, a 14-day stamp covers Sinai only. The full-country visa has a travel-agency support-letter requirement there. For Cairo, Luxor or Aswan, arrange the full-country route.
