Use the buses from FiraKTEL buses run from Fira to Oia, Kamari, Perissa, Akrotiri and the airport. Download the timetable before you set out.
Walk the caldera path earlyThe Fira to Oia path takes about 3 hours over 9.5 km. Start early with water and a hat, and finish the walk in daylight.
Check site closing daysCheck each archaeological site and museum before choosing dates. Weekly closures differ, and Ancient Thera needs an appointment from December to February.
Respect local access restrictionsDo not descend to Red Beach: the municipality prohibits access because of rockfall. Follow barriers and local notices on other cliff paths.
