Overview
A first week can stay focused on Marrakech and the Atlantic coast. Marrakech rewards time on foot: palace courtyards, a former madrasa and market streets sit close together, while Majorelle and the newer districts need a separate outing. Essaouira changes the pace with a working harbor, compact medina and long beach. Wind can make a coastal afternoon feel very different from an inland one.
This route leaves the northern cities, mountain trekking and desert camps for another trip. Use a coach or arranged road transfer between the two bases, then walk most of each medina. Book timed garden tickets before fixing Marrakech days, check museum closures and choose a hotel with a clear luggage drop-off plan. The seven-day loop assumes you arrive before its first sightseeing morning.
When to go
These ratings suit Marrakech and Essaouira, not mountain or desert trips. Coastal wind persists beyond summer; inland heat favors early starts. Ramadan can change daytime dining and opening hours.

Getting around
- Between the two bases: Use an intercity coach or an arranged road transfer. Check Supratours for your date; the itinerary uses a buffered travel block, not a promised departure time.
- Inside the medinas: Walk the narrow lanes and ask your accommodation for the nearest vehicle-accessible meeting point. Keep luggage manageable and save the route offline.
- Across Marrakech: Use a licensed taxi for Majorelle, Menara and your airport transfer. Agree the fare or meter arrangement before departure and allow extra time in traffic.
- Beyond this loop: ONCF trains serve several major cities, while coaches extend the network. Check the actual route before booking: a coastal stop does not necessarily have a railway station.
