Overview
Most first trips are about 3 days in Doha: Souq Waqif and the Falcon Souq, the Museum of Islamic Art and the National Museum of Qatar on the waterfront, Msheireb, then Katara and The Pearl, with Education City on the metro. The Red, Green and Gold metro lines meet at Msheireb, and the airport is about 15 min from Souq Waqif by taxi. A fourth day goes north to Al Zubarah, about 100 km from Doha, and to Purple Island, about an hour away.
November to February is the most comfortable season, with sunny days of 15 to 20 C. Summer from June to September is very hot, often above 40 C, so plan museums and malls for the day and the Corniche for the evening. Museums open at 1:30 PM on Fridays, and each closes one weekday: the Museum of Islamic Art on Wednesday, the National Museum on Tuesday.
When to go
Qatar National Day on 18 December and Sports Day on the second Tuesday of February are national holidays. Camel races at Al Shahaniya run on Fridays from October to February.

Getting around
- Doha Metro: The Red, Green and Gold lines meet at Msheireb station and reach the airport, West Bay, Education City and Al Wakrah.
- Taxis and apps: Turquoise Karwa taxis can be hailed or booked on the Karwa app, and Uber is widely used.
- Free trams: The Msheireb Downtown tram and the Education City tram are free to ride.
- From the airport: Hamad International Airport is about 15 min by car from Souq Waqif and the National Museum.
- Beyond Doha: Highways link Doha to the north, but remote desert sites such as Khor Al Adaid need a 4x4, so book a driver or guide.
