Overview
Most first trips pair Bucharest with Transylvania. Bucharest North to Brasov takes about 2 hours 30 min by CFR train, roughly every hour, and Bran Castle is about 30 km from Brasov: 35 min by taxi or about 50 min by bus from Bus Station No. 2. Peles Castle at Sinaia and the Sibiu squares fit into the same route, and Sibiu has its own airport 6 km from the center.
Late spring and early autumn are the mildest months, while summer brings the longest castle hours and the biggest crowds. Winters are cold, and several Bucharest, Sibiu and Sinaia sights close on Mondays and Tuesdays, so plan them for Wednesday to Sunday.
When to go
Bran Castle opens at 9 AM and keeps its last entry at 7 PM from April to October, and at 6 PM from November to March. On Mondays it opens at noon.
