Entry rule for your passport
Visa required: apply for a single-entry e-Visa on evisa.gov.ge for up to 30 days. With a valid visa or residence permit from the US, UK, EU or other listed countries, you can enter for 90 days in 180 without it.
Official sources: Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia (evisa.gov.ge).
Who this covers: Ordinary Indian passports for short tourist visits to Georgia, applied for through the official e-Visa portal from outside Georgia. A valid visa or residence permit from certain other countries can change the route. Work, study, long stays and official passports need separate checks.
Check your circumstances
Read these conditions alongside the entry rule. Where official guidance does not state a condition, that is not confirmation that no condition applies.
- Passport type Conditions to check
- The e-Visa portal shows a visa is needed for India. This guide covers ordinary passports; the portal does not list an exemption for Indian diplomatic or special passports, so those holders should ask the Consular Department.
Official sources: Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia (evisa.gov.ge).
- Trip purpose Confirmed for this scope
- The e-Visa is for short-term visits and gives the same right of entry as a sticker visa. You must be able to show a document proving the purpose of your trip at the border.
Official sources: Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia (evisa.gov.ge).
- Age Confirmed for this scope
- Every traveler needs their own passport and their own e-Visa, whatever their age. A child included in a parent's passport still needs a separate passport and application.

- Residence Conditions to check
- The e-Visa application must be made by a person staying abroad. Georgia's visa-free list is worded for citizens and stateless persons who permanently reside in the listed countries; India is not on it. This guide covers Indian citizens living in India.

- Other visas or residence permits Conditions to check
- Holders of a valid visa or residence permit of a listed country, such as the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea or an EU state, can enter and stay 90 days in any 180 days without a Georgian visa. The visa or permit must be valid when you cross the border.

- Carrier and arrival route Conditions to check
- You do not need a visa if you stay in the international transit area. Crew and passengers who must change carrier or transport can transit for up to 10 days if they hold a document allowing entry to their destination, but may not leave the transit area.
Official sources: Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia (geoconsul.gov.ge).
- Stay and visa validity Confirmed for this scope
- For India the portal shows a single-entry visa that allows 30 days of stay within a 120-day validity period. Total entry and stay in Georgia in any 180 days cannot exceed 90 days.

Do you need a visa?
Georgia's official visa-free list does not include India, so an Indian passport holder needs a visa for a tourist visit. Two routes can replace it. You can apply for an e-Visa online, or, if you hold a valid visa or residence permit of a country on Georgia's second list, you can enter without a Georgian visa for 90 days in any 180 days.
The second list includes the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, Japan, South Korea, New Zealand, Israel, the Gulf states Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, and the EU states. Your visa or permit must still be valid on the day you cross the Georgian border.

Applying for the e-Visa
Apply on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs e-Visa portal, evisa.gov.ge, from outside Georgia. Fill in the form in English, confirm your email within 1 hour, and pay by Visa or Mastercard within 5 hours of that confirmation, or the application is cancelled. The fee is 20 USD plus a 2% service fee, and it is not refunded if the application is refused or the visa goes unused.
The Ministry decides within 5 working days. After the first step the portal also asks for a second identity-verification step, DuVerify, which carries an extra 15 USD per applicant and must be done within 24 hours. Each traveler needs a separate application. If you made a mistake, you cannot edit it and must file a new application.

Documents and passport rules
Your passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond the end of the visa, have at least 2 free pages, be undamaged and have been issued within the last 10 years. You upload a passport scan in one PDF, a photo taken in the last 6 months, a supporting document if you have one, proof of accommodation, a round-trip flight ticket, travel insurance and proof of funds.
Documents must be in English or Georgian. For funds, the portal accepts bank statements for the last three months, an employer letter with position and income, proof of real estate, or a signed sponsor letter.

Insurance and the border
Since 1 January 2026 every tourist entering Georgia must show a valid health and accident insurance policy, on paper or electronically, in Georgian or English. The cover must be at least 30,000 GEL and must run from your arrival date to your departure date. A Georgian or a foreign insurer may issue it.
At the border, carry your passport, the document proving your purpose, proof of accommodation, your insurance and proof of funds. The visa does not guarantee entry: the Border Police make the final decision, and without insurance you could be refused.
