Check your circumstances

Read the e-gate receipt
At an eligible airport, use the printed QR code to check how many days you have been given. Keep the receipt and download your e-tourist card within 60 days. An available maximum of 180 days does not guarantee that period.
Plan departure around your actual permission. Keep the entry record accessible through the trip and when leaving Mexico.

Use the staffed route when needed
E-gates require an ordinary chipped passport, tourism, age 18 or older and travel without minors. Mexican residence and other listed immigration documents also exclude gate use. Follow staff directions when these conditions do not fit.
For a staffed arrival, check the passport stamp and complete the required immigration form. A family should check its route together rather than treating an adult’s gate eligibility as permission for children.

Complete land entry properly
Complete the FMM and obtain an entry stamp. At the US land border, explain the purpose of your visit when asked. If no immigration officer is present, locate the nearby immigration office before continuing; customs staff can direct you.
Check transit requirements for the countries on your route. Permission to visit Mexico does not establish eligibility to transit the US or Canada.
