Entry rule for your passport

Who this covers: Ordinary Indian passports for short tourist visits to Oman: the 14-day visa exemption for holders of qualifying foreign visas or residence, and the Royal Oman Police visa route for everyone else. Work, residence, long stays and diplomatic or official passports need separate checks.
Check your circumstances
Read these conditions alongside the entry rule. Where official guidance does not state a condition, that is not confirmation that no condition applies.
- Passport type Conditions to check
- The exemption groups are listed by nationality. The Royal Oman Police lists separate visit visas for diplomatic, special, service and official passports, so this guide covers ordinary passports only.

Who qualifies for the 14-day exemption
Oman exempts visitors from more than 100 countries and regions from entry visas for stays of up to 14 days, in two groups. India is in the second group, which comes with a condition: you must be a resident of, or hold a valid entry visa for, the United States, Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, a Schengen country or Japan. Residents of the GCC countries also qualify if their profession is one that benefits from the resident visa.
The 14 days cannot be extended or transferred to a residence visa. Your husband or wife and your children benefit from the exemption with you, even if they are not nationals of an exempt country.

If you do not qualify
Visas for Oman are managed by the Royal Oman Police. The Foreign Ministry says travelers who are not exempt can check their options on the ROP eVisa website, and that the unsponsored Tourist Visit Visa will usually be the right type for a tourist.
The ROP lists that visa for 10 days, 14 days or one month for nationals of specified countries, and 10-day and 30-day versions for allowed nationalities who hold a valid Schengen visa or a valid visa for the US, UK, Canada, Australia or Japan. Its public pages do not say which nationalities are on those lists, so confirm your eligibility in the eVisa system before you book flights.

At the border
Carry a passport valid for at least 6 months, a return ticket, a confirmed hotel booking, health insurance and enough money for your stay. If you rely on a foreign visa or residence permit to qualify, carry it with you as well, since the exemption depends on it.
