Official sources: Government of Slovenia (gov.si), Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs.
Who this covers: Ordinary Indian passports for short tourist visits of up to 90 days, with Slovenia as the main destination and the application made in India. Long stays, work, study and diplomatic passports need separate checks.
Check your circumstances
Read these conditions alongside the entry rule. Where official guidance does not state a condition, that is not confirmation that no condition applies.
- Passport type Confirmed for this scope
- Slovenia lists Indian citizens as visa-required. Holders of diplomatic passports need no short-stay visa, so this guide covers ordinary passports only.

- Trip purpose Confirmed for this scope
- Tourism is a purpose for which a third-country national who needs a visa must get one from a Slovenian mission before arriving. The C visa allows stays of up to 90 days.

Which visa and where to apply
Apply for a Schengen C visa to the state that is your main destination. If Slovenia is where you will spend the most days, apply to Slovenia. If your days are equal, apply to the first Schengen state you enter.
In India you can lodge the application at the Embassy of Slovenia in New Delhi or at a VFS Global centre. As a general rule you appear in person so your fingerprints can be taken, either at the Embassy or at the service provider.

When to apply
Apply at least 15 calendar days before the trip, and no earlier than six months before it starts. The Embassy warns that an application lodged less than 15 days before departure may take up to 15 calendar days and could be decided after your planned departure date.

Documents and insurance
Bring a passport issued within the last 10 years with at least two empty pages, valid for at least 3 months after you plan to leave the Schengen area. Add the signed application form, a recent photo that meets ICAO standards, proof of the purpose of your stay, evidence of means of support and accommodation, and a guarantee or invitation letter if a host is inviting you.
You also need travel medical insurance of at least €30,000 that covers emergency care, hospitalization and repatriation for the whole Schengen area and the whole stay. The Embassy publishes a list of Indian insurers it accepts and a supporting-documents list for applicants in India.

Fees
The visa fee is €90 for applicants over 12 and €45 for children aged 6 to 12, plus the service fee if you apply through VFS Global. Some applicants are exempt from the visa fee. If you pay the Embassy directly, it accepts UPI in rupees or a bank transfer in euros or rupees, and it does not take cash.

At the border
Carry your passport, your visa and your insurance, and be ready to show proof of funds and accommodation. The EU Entry/Exit System has been fully operational at Schengen borders since 10 April 2026. ETIAS is not yet operating, and it would not replace the visa an Indian tourist needs.
