Entry rule for your passport
No visa for tourist stays of up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Your passport must be valid for at least 150 days from the date you enter.

Who this covers: Regular Canadian passports for short tourist trips. Official, temporary and emergency travel documents, Turkish dual nationality and non-tourist activities need separate checks.
Check your circumstances
Read these conditions alongside the entry rule. Where official guidance does not state a condition, that is not confirmation that no condition applies.
- Passport type Conditions to check
- Use the regular Canadian-passport rule. Canada warns that official, temporary and emergency documents can have different requirements.

- Trip purpose Conditions to check
- The verified exemption is for tourism. Canada lists business, work, study and medical travel as visa-required, so do not extend this holiday guide to those purposes.

- Age Conditions to check
- Canada gives no tourist-exemption age cutoff. A dual Turkish-Canadian child aged 18 or younger may need the Turkish parent’s permission to leave.

- Residence Not stated in the cited guidance
- The regular-passport tourist rule states no Canadian-residence condition. Earlier Turkish asylum or refugee applications can affect re-entry and need consular advice.

- Other visas or residence permits Not stated in the cited guidance
- The Canadian tourist exemption does not list another country’s visa or residence permit as an eligibility condition.

- Carrier and arrival route Conditions to check
- Canada warns that transport companies may apply stricter passport rules. Get entry and exit stamps, including on sea trips to nearby islands.

- Stay and visa validity Confirmed for this scope
- The tourist allowance is 90 days in a 180-day period. After using all 90 days, a brief exit does not provide a fresh 90-day allowance.

Leave space for border stamps
Canada requires a regular passport valid for at least 150 days from entry. Leave room for arrival and departure stamps, and check your carrier’s passport conditions before departure. Temporary or emergency documents need an individual check.

Plan a return visit around earlier days
Count your recent Turkey visits before booking another stay. The Foreign Ministry applies the 90-in-180-day limit across passports, so changing passports or leaving for a short island trip does not reset your time.
Ask about a residence permit before planning a longer stay; the tourist exemption itself cannot authorize it.

Confirm family and purpose exceptions
Canadian-Turkish dual nationals must present valid Turkish identity or passport documents to enter. A dual-national child aged 18 or younger may also need the Turkish parent’s permission to leave.
For business, study, work or medical travel, check the appropriate visa route instead of using the tourist exemption. If a sticker visa is needed, online pre-application is followed by document submission through the responsible mission or center. Confirm any appointment or interview requirements there.
