Entry rule for your passport
No visa for tourist stays of up to 90 days in any 180-day period. Your passport must be valid for at least 150 days from the date you arrive.

Who this covers: Ordinary US passports for short tourist visits. Official passports, emergency travel documents, employment, study and residence are outside this guide.
Check your circumstances
Read these conditions alongside the entry rule. Where official guidance does not state a condition, that is not confirmation that no condition applies.
- Passport type Conditions to check

Check passport expiry before booking
The Turkish passport rule requires validity beyond the authorized stay: a 90-day permission needs at least 150 days remaining on arrival. The Foreign Ministry separately recommends having six months remaining. Check the actual dates rather than assuming your planned week-long stay sets the passport minimum.

Count earlier Turkey visits
Add earlier Turkey visits when checking the 90-in-180-day allowance. Leaving for a nearby country and coming back does not automatically give another 90 days. The Foreign Ministry also says using a second passport does not create a separate allowance.
If your plans exceed the tourist limit, arrange the appropriate permission instead of relying on repeated border crossings.

When a consular application is needed
Do not purchase an eVisa simply because an old checklist says US tourists need one. The current ordinary-passport exemption covers the tourist visit described here.
If your purpose or passport requires a sticker visa, the online form is a pre-application. The Foreign Ministry describes a later mission or application-center procedure with signed forms, passport and original documents. Check the responsible mission’s appointment and interview instructions; online submission is not a promise of interview-free approval.
